The scenery directly on our doorstep with its mountains, lakes, rivers, meadows and forests provide endless countryside experiences for families with small children.

Wander along the Marmot Trail with mum and dad, take a trip to the earth pyramids, jump into a natural lake and discover the most important thing of all: it doesn’t matter what we do, as long as we’re together.

“This hotel is located in an incredibly convenient spot: From cities to castles, hiking trails, mountain railways, Alpine huts, lakes, theme trails and climbing parks, so many fabulous attractions and excursion destinations are less than a 30-minute drive away. We know of very few areas where you can do so much in such close proximity.”

The Entdecker bike tour

The Pustertal cycle path weaves through the valley from Mühlbach to Lienz in East Tyrol, and is perfect for leisurely trips with kids. Tarred for the most part, the route leads primarily along flat land with the occasional moderate slope, and guarantees a pleasant bike trip which should not be too strenuous. And when it’s time to head back, just hop on a train. Have fun!

When the mountains call

How do you entice children out on a hike? Rule number one: By bearing in mind that the greatest discoveries don’t mean that they have to climb the highest peaks. Children adore winding trails that lead past babbling mountain brooks, flowering meadows and adventuresome forests. And rule number two: A rustic mountain hut and a viewpoint are always a good destination. We will be delighted to give you tips for family-friendly hikes that are suitable for young children and strollers.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

When the Pustertal Valley is blanketed in white, the 2,275m Kronplatz - Bruneck’s very own local mountain—lures all aspiring young skiers and slalom fan out to enjoy a full 120km of slopes: an outstanding experience for the whole family to enjoy, complete with ski-bus service to take you to and from the slopes. In our neighbouring village of Pfalzen, a magic carpet and small lift provide the opportunity for children to practice their first steps on skis in complete peace.

Sledging in the Pustertal Valley

The Terenten sledge run is 400m long, with a descent of 80m. On Wednesday and Friday nights, the slope is illuminated until 10pm, giving you the chance to enjoy all the fun of night-time sledging..

The idyllic Moarhof Alm natural sledging slope is easy, family-friendly and famed for its sunny location and panoramic views. And after a fabulous descent, a Kaiserschmarrn shredded pancake tastes particularly good.

At the Lothener Köpfl in the Pfalzen sports zone, you can whizz your way down to the valley on a wild and winding trail, which is illuminated on some evenings for night-time sledge runs. An absolutely thrilling adventure in the snow for the whole family.
